Understanding Web Logging

"We bloggers have scant opportunity to collect our thoughts, to wait until events have settled and a clear pattern emerges." I have to agree with Andrew Sullivan in his, but I have an interesting counter to this quote. What is the difference of keeping your thoughts in a blog as opposed to keeping keeping them in a journal or diary? If the answer to this question is sharing your thoughts in your blog on the internet, you could also share your journal or diary by publishing it. Granted the internet would make your blog more renown by reaching more people.

Sullivan, makes the point that instead of writing your thoughts on paper, if you blog, you open your thoughts to "scrutiny" and allow "others to pivot you towards the relative truth." This is the biggest motivator for writers to change over to bloggers. My own motivation to being a blogger is to open my writing up to a larger audience and receive comments, feedback and develop further as a writer.
