Ah. The New York Times. The epitome of a sophisticated newspaper/website/smartphone app/whatever else. Yeah, they have a slight liberal bias, but that's not the point of this post. The point is that after reading one of those articles and not having difficulty with any big words and understanding all of the content, I feel smart. I have grown as a reader and a writer because of reading the NY Times.
I try to stay away from the boring stories, but it is hard to tell which ones are good and which ones ae bad by reading the title and first few lines of the story. However, the stories I read are based of large, important events. For example, the Italian idiot captain of the cruise ship that ran his ship into a rock. Or the Superbowl. Or the nation's current political events.
The Times have impacted what I say. No longer am I a classic example of an Arkansan, with a minimal vocabulary. I am a student at the University of Denver. I can speak good and stuff. Well, y'all know what I mean.
